How silhouette matching works

The V2.5 matching engine uses staged geometry comparisons; this panel does not expose separate Quick Scan / High Performance Scan modes.

01

Start with geometry filters

Candidate pairs are filtered by width and height within the matching tolerance, then by aspect ratio and area to avoid expensive comparisons on obviously unsuitable candidates.

02

Compare shape and perimeter

Surviving candidates are compared using a normalized path-shape fingerprint, its 180° transform and perimeter difference.

03

Choose an unused pattern candidate

Each selected pattern is marked as used so the same contour is not assigned to multiple designs during one run. The comparison chooses 0° or 180°.

04

Laser Cut is a separate option

After matching and placement, the Enable Laser Cut checkbox controls whether the script generates the configured Inside/Outside stroke copies. It is disabled by default.

05

Inspect uncertain results

Tolerance and geometry similarity affect matching quality. Review the result and inspect the actual Illustrator document before production.
